A Pedal-Powered Party

Story by Pure Cycles June 8th, 2015

Life is sweet and Sweetlife is awesome! Last weekend, Jordan and Austin flew across the country to one of the Summer’s hottest festivals (literally and figuratively) to give away some bikes, jam out to some music, and help people stay amped in an environmentally friendly way!

As the official “charging station” of the festival, if your phone tuckered out before you did, you could stop by and give it some juice. There was only one requirement, you had to pedal. The guys set-up 6 Pure City bikes on trainers, each wired up to Siva Atoms so all you had to do was plug in your phone, get pedaling, and watch your effort turn into sweet, sweet battery life.

Sweetlife takes the environment seriously, and we were stoked to be able to help them provide convenient charging that didn’t rely on fossil fuels or other less fun forms of energy. They also had an eco-store set up where you could “buy” awesome stuff using recyclables as “cash”. That’s exactly the kind of creative incentivization we love and we were able to sell 6 of our bikes for the whopping price of 300 plastic cups each! We also gave away 2 bikes to lucky charging station riders, handed out a boatload of swag, and rocked out to some of today’s coolest tunes!

The only part of the festival that didn’t rock was that it had to come to an end, but we can’t wait to do it again!
