Whoa, so French, right? That’s just the mood we’re in after spending the day playing music, riding bikes, and hanging out with Les Garçons Trottoirs! The French foursome popped in for a visit before heading back to Europe for their Summer tour and spoiled us with fresh tunes and tasty treats. It was an awesome experience to share the same creative space as these talented (and oh-so-fun-loving) musicians and, even if you’re no francophile, you’re going to wish you were there. We wish you were there too.
After introductions we got straight to the important stuff - food. (Note: Wine was handled during introductions, it’s definitely important too). The hommes whipped up some super-fresh snacks while we got the house set up for our makeshift concert and toodled around on our bikes out front. We were also lucky to have a couple video pros, Spencer Showalter and Tavner Murphy, there to get everything geared up for filming.
If you’re ever curious what people who love what they do look like - look no further. These guys really know how to have a good time and, even better, have figured out how to make a living out of it! We were moving all day, but it never even felt like work (though I did consider taking the next day off to let my cheeks recover from all the smiling).
The day’s experience is nicely encapsulated by this video. A testament to the fact that if you get great people together and let them do what they love, you’re can’t help but get swept away in the enthusiasm, excitement, and enjoyment.
And by the end of the day, we’d lost track of… almost everything. When the day started we were prepared for a video shoot and some solid work. By the end, none of us were sure whose party we were at, but nobody was in a hurry to leave. Instruments were traded (with mixed success, but never lacking hilarity), our art department started including themselves in all the shots, and nobody could be sure how many bottles of wine we went through, but we knew there must be a dry vineyard somewhere.
